Shining light for sensing and control of astrocytes micro-domains structure, dynamics and biophysics
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
ASTROLIGHT proposes the use of light at different wavelengths and with different fundamental nonlinear optical properties such as coherence and entanglement, to probe and monitor the structural and functional properties of ion channels and water channels in astrocytes. In this project, starting from the consolidated collaboration between IPCB and ISOF in the project 3DNEUROGLIA, IPCB proposes the fabrication of nanostructured interfaces to investigate the growth and in vitro differentiation of primary culture of astrocytes. These substrates will be optimized in terms of morphological, molecular, and functional features in order to reply the peculiar response expressed by astrocytes in vivo.
