Dr. Ugo D’Amora achieved the national scientific qualification as Associate Professor in the Italian higher education system, for the disciplinary Materials science and technology (Academic Recruitment Field 09/D – Chemical and materials engineering, according to the national classification). In 2009, he graduated
cum laude in Materials Engineering at the University of Naples “Federico II”. In 2013, he achieved a PhD in
Materials and Structures Engineering (Biomaterials) at the University of Naples “Federico II”. He was Visiting Scientist at AO Research Institute Davos, Switzerland in 2015/2016 and Visiting Scientist at National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials (NERCB), Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, in 2017/2018. In 2019, he spent several months in London at Queen Mary Innovation Ltd as well as in Shanghai at Shanghai Technology Innovation Center where he had the opportunity to enable new professional skills in terms of Technology Transfer systems such as IPs strategies and guidelines useful for academic researchers and start-up Companies. In the framework of a H2020-MSCA-RISE project, he also spent a period in Guangzhou, China at Medprin Regenerative Medical Technologies Co., Ltd, to approach a pilot study and scale-up of the achieved results on 3D printed biomaterials. He is member of European Society for biomaterials (ESB) and Italian Society for Biomaterials (SIB). During his career, he was awarded for the best poster presentation in 2012 at SIB congress and 2020 at WBC conference. Furthermore, in 2016 thanks to a Short Term Mobility grant of CNR, he had the opportunity to complete his research at AO research Institute of Davos. From 2014 to 2017, he was adjunct professor of Materials Science and Technology at University of Naples “Federico II”.
He was nominated Work Package Leader of different European and national projects. His main research interests include material functionalization approaches, design of innovative bioinks, preparation and characterization of polymer and nanocomposite scaffolds for tissue engineering applications using additive manufacturing techniques. He serves as reviewer and guest editor of different high impact journals, he is currently author and co-author of national and international papers, book chapters and communications in international and national conferences.

Sandro Dattilo received a Master’s Degree in Industrial Chemistry (110/110 cum laude) and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Catania at the Department of Engineering in 2005 and 2009. Since 2012, he has been working for the Institute for Polymer, Composites, and Biomaterials (IPCB-CNR Catania Unit).

His scientific know-how extends from synthesizing polymeric materials to their characterization through mass spectrometry techniques. In particular, he is an expert in pyrolysis GC-MS  in the de-formulation of polymeric compounds, including additive analysis. In the last period, in the context of Enjoipol group, his research activity also regards the study of polymeric materials for the remediation of water from organic and inorganic contaminants and the recycling and reuse of polymeric materials.

Specifically, he deals with metal ion determination by ICP-MS, organic pollutants quantification by High Res MS, and synthesis of polymeric materials.

He actively collaborates with various companies strengthening his skills in applied research.

Roberto De Santis received the mechanical engineering degree in 1994, the PhD in Biotechnology of Dental Materials in 1997 and the Master in Biomaterials in 2001.

He has been responsible of the laboratory of Mechanical Properties until 2013, and currently he is responsible of the laboratory of 3D Rapid Prototyping and the laboratory of Reverse Engineering at the IPCB-CNR Institute of Polymers, Composites and Biomaterial of the National Research Council of Italy. He has been responsible of several Regional, National and European projects leading the clerk of “Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering” of the Department of Molecular Design of the Italian CNR between 2006 and 2017. Currently, he is member of the board of directors of the IPCB-CNR Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials.

He has been adjunct professor of Methodologies and Biotechnologies of Veterinary Surgery at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Naples “Federico II”, and he has been adjunct professor of Science and Technology of Dental Materials at the School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine of Naples “Federico II” from 2000-2010. Currently, he is a board member of the PhD committee in Odontostomatological and Maxillo-Facial Science.

He is member of the board of directors of the SIB Italian Society of Biomaterials and he is member of the board of directors of the SIBOT Italian Society of Biomechanics in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He is member of the Fraunhofer International Joint Laboratory JL Ideas. He is board member of the International Exchanges Committee Panel of the Royal Society.

He has been member founding partner of the Spin off APM Advanced Polymer Materials s.r.l until 2010, and he has been member founding partner of the Sturt-up FasTissues S.r.l.s. until 2019.

He has been conference organizer and program chair of the SIB Italian Society of Biomaterial Conference in 2016 in Ischia; the International Conference and Exhibition on Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery 2017 in Osaka; the Sympsium Polymer & Composite Materials within the PMI 2018 International Conference in Guimaraes. He has been scientific board member or organizing board member of several national and international conferences, chairing and moderating more than 30 conference sessions of national and international congresses.

He has received several prizes and scientific recognitions of merit from the Italian CNR National Research Council, the SIB Italian Society of Biomaterials, the SIDO Italian Society of Orthodontics, the SIDOC Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry. He has been keynote or invited speaker for several national and international conferences and advanced schools of regenerative medicine.

He has more than 25 years of experience on advanced biomaterials for restoring or regenerating connective tissues. He is author of more than 200 scientific papers on this topic, including more than 20 book chapters, and including 5 patents and one trade mark. He is editorial board member of: Polymers MDPI, Basel, Switzerland; Materials MDPI, Basel, Switzerland; JABFM Journal of Applied Biomaterials and Functional Materials, SAGE Publications Ltd;

Her activities are mainly focused on the morphological and structural characterization and elemental analysis of nanostructures and polymer and composite materials.

In particular, her main skills are:
– sample preparation by cryo-ultramicrotomy also after samples embedding in resins;
– morphological analysis of materials by scanning electron microscopy (SEM);
– morphological and structural characterization of materials by transmission electron microscopy (TEM);
– elemental analysis and element map of materials by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).

She is technical coordinator of the scanning and transmission electron microscopy laboratory at IPCB CNR.

Mario di Gennaro graduated in Sciences and Technologies of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Naples “Federico II”, and since 01/11/2019 he is doing a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. In 2019 he obtained the qualification to practice as a Chemist Section A. From 04/03/2019 to 31/10/2019 he obtained a scholarship within the P.O.R. “Therapies – Antibacterial therapy Alternatives to antibiotics, based on the use of phage preparations, for the prevention of Chronic Infections caused by pathogenic bacteria”, carried out in collaboration with the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials (IPCB-CNR) and the Department of Veterinary Medicine, whose research activity concerned the “Formulation and characterization of polymeric systems based on Trichoderma Harzianum” From 13 / 07-13 / 09/2020, and from 10 / 06-10 / 08/2021, with a occasional service contract carried out the research activity on the “Preparation and characterization of slow-release biopolymer systems in agriculture and in the biomedical field” as part of the PON research project “Innovative products with a high bio-technological content for the MEDICAL sector – INBIOMED, ​​in collaboration with the IPCB / CNR and the University of Basilicata (UNIBAS). Since 12/05/2021 he has been working with a research grant entitled “Synthesis and formulation of polymer-based systems for the release of active ingredients as well as their chemical-physical and rheological characterization and study of release properties” within the framework of the agreement operating on the INBIOMED project “at the IPCB.

cooperate to the NanoTechLab Ltd, Acad. G. Bonchev (Sofia ,Bulgaria) and Sichuan University (Chengdu,China).
Since 2016 Dr. R. Di Maio is temporary researcher for IPCB-CNR, located in  Pozzuoli and Portici. Her research activity is focused on the development and characterization of polymeric composite materials addressed to the 3D printing by investigating the potential of carbon organic fillers. The main objective of the research is to study the relationships between the molecular and crystal structure, spatial distribution and interfacial interactions between filler and polymer and the physical,chemical and morphological properties of the resulting nanocomposites in order to find the best architecture from the nano- to macroscale, synthetic approach and processing conditions. At the moment she is PhD student in Product and Industrial Process Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, in collaboration with the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials (IPCB-CNR).
